A Shower Monster at the Homestead Suites!

A Shower Monster at the Homestead Suites!

Every hotel has something that slides through the cracks from time to time.  I even found a cockroach at a Hyatt I stayed at last Fall so it happens at the best and more-so at the adequately priced so I am inclined to focus on the more positive aspects.

Of late I keep running into little things that add up and this weekend they added up really fast.

The last straw was hopping into the shower to quick get ready and head out to the event I came to cover in Chicago.

I had to spend about 5 minutes digging in the shower drain and pulling out wads of funky hair because the shower wasn’t draining.

Got Paint? Primer and paint are always a good idea after a ceiling leak!

The bathroom ceiling could, of course, use a little primer and paint but I see that on occasion.  It does add to the general ambiance of the room.

I understand that stains are sometimes hard to get out but these white spots on the carpet really don’t appear to be necessary as it took less than one minute with a wet wash cloth and it came right up!

Really it doesn’t appear that anyone even tried to clean up the stain on the carpet.

How many holes in a cheap comforter does it take before its dead?

How many holes in a cheap comforter does it take before its dead?

Since I am allergic to tobacco I prefer no smoking rooms and like that many motels are no smoking but I find it rather irritating when I find comforters that are full of holes.  It would seem to me that if you are going to allow smoking in your rooms that you should put the smokers comforters back in the smoking rooms!

Really? Its Dead Jim!

Really? Its Dead Jim!

I have gotten many great rooms through Priceline.com in the past and a number of them have been Extended Stay America hotels but the past few times I have been getting less and less impressed with them.  Recent experiences at Extended Stay America motels have included a dirty room, a plugged toilet, and a room that had no towels.

I understand that I got the room at a great price, $32/night + tax/fees, but that still adds up to $79.44 after the fees and taxes and that is a lot better than an empty room.  Really guys, this room is not that bad and a new comforter, five minutes of cleaning and a quick bit of paint would would spruce it up nice and I already got a start on the cleaning!

As is though, after several stays Extended Stay America I have to say, it is really is on the decline.  Oh, and to my favorite negotiator at Price Line, please mention to them that that comforter, well, It’s Dead Jim!
