Mobile is Beyond the barriers and over the edge for charity

Over the Edge at Marriott in Mobile

Over the Edge at Marriott in Mobile

Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5, 2016, folks in Mobile, Alabama are going beyond the barriers and over the edge of the roof at the Marriott Hotel on Airport Road.  Members and friends of Mobile’s 74 Club raised funs via donations from friends, family and other sponsors.  The participants geared up, climbed over the wall, and rappelled down from 20 stories up as friends and family cheered them on from below and a DJ played.

The participants have been raising funds for local non-profits of St. Mary’s Home, Woody’s Song, Mobile Arc, McKemie Place, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, The Exchange Club, and The Abba Shrine Children’s Transportation Fund.  Each rappeller was asked to raise a minimum of $1,000 and they currently have 39 people signed up.  So far they have raised over $90,000 for their charities and are hoping to break $100,000.  You can help them to make that happen.  Go to the participant list on their site and pick a rappeller to support.  Some of the participants still haven’t made their minimum and you can donate to their cause via credit card through the site.  Saturday’s fun starts at 8:30 a.m. and the last participants begin their descent at 3 p.m.  So if you are in the Mobile area go to the Marriott, donate in person, watch the rappellers, and cheer them on.
