They say a man is known by the company he keeps. Recently at the World Steam Expo I walked into a room where the stage was crowed with talented performers. I saw that the amazing and award winning musician Jon Magnificent had flown in from Los Angeles. Mr. Center Stage (I say this in sincerity as he has a charismagnetic ability to pull in the focus of all around) himself, Michael Shea, was there.
Others, beautiful ladies, dapper gentlemen and all were looking admiringly on a humble looking fellow in wire rimmed glasses and a goatee. The audience had just been treated to an interactive performance of an all too brief sample from Mr. White’s book Tales of the Airship Neverland. While I was intrigued by Mr. White’s book, I was equally fascinated by the man who had these fine folks under his spell.
During the World Steam Expo we made an unsuccessful attempt at an interview that only served to intrigue me further and inspire me to journey to the distant land of Toledo for a second attempt this afternoon. We had to make a choice between leaving the fans on to combat the heat and have inferior sound quality or to turn them off and suffer the heat. We chose the heat and good sound. Unfortunately, that resulted in heat related mechanical failure towards the end of the interview and I had to use my backup video camera with lesser quality for the conclusion. Nonetheless I found Mr. White to be a fascinating man and the interview well worth the time. So please forgive the video quality but enjoy the interview!
