Jon Magnificent at Her Royal Majesty’s Steampunk Symposium

Jon Magnificent is an amazing composer and musician and has won a number of awards for his music (he’s even had a Grammy nomination!) and plays twenty some instruments but is just not so great at tooting his own horn. Last year, back in December, he did a $10,000 Kickstarter to get funding for doing a music video for his new album. With Kickstarter, if you don’t make your target you crash and burn getting nothing that was pledged as his did, receiving only $961 in pledges. So this year Jon is doing a Kickstarter and set his sites lower at $900 and is now successful $951 with over a week to go. The truth is though, with more money he could do a lot better video and actually pay professionals to do what he isn’t able to do on his own.

For those of you that are unfamiliar with his music, I set up the music stream to be mainly playing Jon’s music (3 out of every 4 songs are Jon and the music is interspersed with interviews with The Steam Powered Giraffe, The League of Steam, and an old fashioned radio show – The Crimson Ferret: Carnage Asada – Starring Robert Axelrod, Amanda Doskocil, Todd Haberkorn, Kyle Hebert, Alexis Tipton, Christopher Smith, and Kent Williams!  Other musicians include The Clockwork Dolls, The Slants, Rob Antecki, The Icarus Kid, Eyeshine, Fan Service Renji, Water Street Bridge, Il Troubadore, Five Year Mission, Haley Jane, Vixy and Tony, Clockwork Quartet, and The Wimshurst’s Machine online  ) so you can listen in for free.

Jon has some great perks going. If you don’t have his music collection already you can get digital versions cheap ($2 for an album!!!) For Social Media Gurus and afficionados he will Facebook, Tweet, post a link on his website and even thank you in the credits of the video. Even cooler than that, you can be listed in the credits as a producer or Executive producer and you can even be in the credits of the video where he will even sign the guitar he was just playing and hand it to you!

I decided to put the focus on Jon for 10 days or until he gets $10K, so give this awesome musician a listen, watch the video and decide what you can do to help or, even better, which of the perks you want.  Check out his kickstarter! He’s awesome!
