One of the many things that the Krewe of Bacchus is known for is that they select a celebrity to be their king every year. In 2010 it was Drew Brees who road as King Bacchus, in 2011 King Bacchus was Andy Garcia, and in 2012 Will Ferrell was King.
The throngs of loyal subjects of King Bacchus line the streets and hope to attract his attention for a special throw though the competition is tough as he has folks on all sides calling out for his attention and waving to him. In such an environment it is difficult to find a familiar face in the crowd but some folks manage to find a way to be seen.
Even as the fans on the parade route wait patiently for the appearance of King Bacchus, they also wait for the announcement of who the new King Bacchus will be the following year.
Today the Krewe of Bacchus announced the soon to be crowned King Bacchus 2013 – G. W. Bailey – star of “The Closer”, “MASH”, and many other movies and television shows.
All Hail King Bacchus 2013 G. W. Bailey!
