Monday through Wednesday this week was the Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop in Rocket City, Huntsville, Alabama where rockets are in such abundance that they are used for decorations and filling an auditorium with rocket scientists doesn’t deplete the supply available in the many space industry facilities around the town.

Rocket scientists, engineers, and others interested in planning and promoting the need for interstellar exploration gathered to share their ideas and encourage one another to continue in their efforts that won’t likely see fruition in their lifetime.

One of the speakers was Travis Taylor who is a brilliant scientist, engineer, athlete, and the leader of National Geographic’s Rocket City Rednecks.

Travis raised some very important issues on planning out a new space plan for America which he and Stephanie Osborn go into much greater detail in their book “A New American Space Plan.”

John Collins of The Weird Review interviewed Travis after his lecture (see video below) and then later interviewed both Travis and Stephanie together on the need for a new American space program.Check out the interview with Travis where he will discuss his background that led up to him becoming a Rocket City Redneck, the need to recognize astronauts as the Rock Star level celebrities that they truly are, and his recent work in making a suit of full body armor for soldiers and the extent, running a marathon while wearing it, he went through to test its wearability.Travis Taylor is truly one of the Rock Stars of the Aerospace industry and it was a pleasure and honor to see and meet him in person.
