Take folk and punk then bathe it in steam and toss in a little pixie dust and you get Frenchy and the Punk. They are a rollicking, frolicking, pair of awesome performers who are full of energy and joie de vivre et la musique (joy of living and music!) I had to slip into French as Frenchy is a true French lass who came to the U.S. as a child and has become one of the best French imports since Lady Liberty herself!
As one of the photographers recently at the Steampunk Empire Symposium I found that one of the biggest problems in photographing them is that their music sweeps the audience away, making it a hazard to move among the singing, dancing, clapping, shouting audience members.
The energy and joy that flows from them through their music is intoxicating as is proclaimed in the song “Lunar Frenzy.” The rhythm of the music and beat of the various percussion instruments that Frenchy and the Punk throw in seemingly with a reckless abandon, are nearly impossible to resist.
Your feet will be swept away by the music while the lyrics will catch your ears with such songs as the tongue in cheek ballad, “Confession of Jack Bonnie and Sally Clyde.”
You don’t have to take my word for it though. Check out their music and try not to swing and sway or break out into full dance. Let me know if I am wrong. I dare you!
