As previously reported, the Battle of Brandy Station was hard fought but the Confederate soldiers were outnumbered and out gunned by their Northern Nemesis. They swept into town, alledgedly in search of a runaway Union Soldier, and dragged off an unlucky bystander to murder in the courtyard and so use it as an excuse to justify their looting of the village. Brave Confederate horsemen charged into town in an effort to buy time for their compatriots to arrive and succeded in disrupting the herding of the children into the courtyard, allowing them to escape the soon to be battlefield. Here is a brief interview with a few of these brave men.
